Opening Mac powerpoint file on Windows

Senior member
when i try to open the .ppt file i saved with mac, on windows, i get the error:

"Powerpoint can't open the type of file represented by *insert file path here*"

is there a way to make the powerpoint file open in windows?

thank you for your time.

The mac is using microsoft powerpoint 2001
The PC with windows installed is using microsoft office XP

The file needs to be saved with the "PC 8.3" filename style on the MAC.

You need to have any GRAPHICS imbedded (not linked) in the file or they surely will not work.

Also, any special fonts need a PC equivalent installed.
