opening & closing cd-roms?

Hi all,

After having to manually press that button to open and close (or pushing the cd tray) I am wondering if there is a way to open cd-roms (rw's and dvd-roms too, I'm assuming they're the same?) with keystrokes much like how macs have the eject button on the keyboard... if so how?! I simply must know as I am very tired of reaching for that awful button.

Is there some way to do it w/o having to install something? Or would it have to sit in my tasktray? I'm running windows xp.
And no, I"m not just being lazy... just would be much cooler when burning stuff, playing cd's, and whatnot.
Thanks.

There are plenty of ways to either open or close using one button, but not both. You can get http://grc.com/wizmo/wizmo.htm , create a shortcut, and set the shortcut hotkey. No installation necessary.

Having a single button to close when the tray is open and open when the drive is closed requires a program to stay resident in memory and keep track of every change in state. I don't know of any programs that do this but I'm sure someone has made one.
