I don't have the skill to easily mess around with red green and blue to get my Monitors to match.

Can anyone suggest some software, or if it dosen't exist some tips on doing it manually?

EVGA Geforece 8600GTS

Thanks

*EDIT*

OK, I'm wondering if there is away to spcify which apps open in which window. ATM I have my small monitor set up as the primary, but I want videos [VLC vide lan] and games to run on the big secondary monitor.

Is this possible? Or do I just have to drag them across every time?

I seem to recall some external device that will do it, but it's like $200. OdiN knows what I mean.

To determine which screen an app will open on when you open it...

Open said program.
Move it to the desire window
Maximize it (not sure that's necessary, just my method)
Close it.

Repeat for any program you open.
Games will always open on monitor 1, or the main monitor.

Usually people just drag the window to the appropriate monitor and hope that the
application remembers the position the next time the application is opened.

With the right add-on software you could probably strongly hint or force that the application opens on the desired monitor or in the desired position, but that's not so common, and I don't know of specific suggestions to implement it.

Color settings -- start with these techniques:
http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html
http://www.normankoren.com/color_management.html
http://www.normankoren.com/color_management_2.html
http://www.normankoren.com/color_management_2A.html
http://www.normankoren.com/printer_calibration.html

If you want a hardware device to help automate the color and gamma / brightness / contrast adjustments for your monitor, there are some entry level devices like these, as well as more advanced (and expensive) ones too:
http://shop1.outpost.com/product/5085995
http://www.northlight-images.c...iews/pantone_huey.html
http://www.northlight-images.c.../pantone_huey_pro.html
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...scription=huey&x=0&y=0
http://shop1.outpost.com/produ...sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

The Huey Pro at $79 looks like a decent deal to me considering it's not so much more expensive than the $59 Huey basic, and it has much better software / documentation.

You probably want somewhere around a 5600K color temperature setting in the
monitor's preselects (or just choose sRGB if it has that), and a Gamma of 2.2,
and a brightness luminance of around 95 candelas / square meter; to know the
brightness you'd need a hardware colorimeter like the ones above, Gamma and color temperature can be set with the monitor's presets and manual calibration controls with the linked screen charts.

Does nobody look at their display settings? or read the manuals that come with the card? ffs.

display properties/settings/advanced/tab with card model #
somewhere in the sub menus- enable desktop manager + enable DTM menus in titlebar
open app, right mouse click on green button next to min/max/close window buttons - send app to X monitor, or customize desktop for app(or something)

cboath, sadly that dosen't work for VLC, but I'll prod the developers and try and get them to put it on their ToDo list.

Thankyou QuixoticOne, thats what I was looking for.

gorobei, the manual was pretty sparse. Hmm, can't find those settings anywhere in the windows display properties of the nvidia control panel. Am I looking in the wrong place, or arnt they there?

keep looking, it's there unless you selected some option during the driver install to not include DTM.

I still can't see it in windows, and all the settings [apart from 3D settings] arn't advanced, just stuff like rotation and resolution.

To be clear I'm running XP.

system stability
video & television

OK, So I'm trying to get Gmail notifier to open on my second monitor, and no matter how much I play with nvidias desktop options for the app I can't get it to go onto the second monitor.

It's a small app, dosent have any UI apart from the taskbar icon [next to clock, don't know the proper name] which you can click on for options. My task bar is on my second monitor.

Any Ideas?
