Opening a Sony Vaio desktop

I was at a friends house the other day and he wanted me to look at his computer to see about upgrading his video card. Its a new model Vaio (not sure of the model number). I took off the outside plastic covering and the thing looked like an impenetrable fortress. There wasn't a single screw in it and I thought if I pulled any harder on anything I may break it.

Anyone have a clue as to how I could open it (besides a cutting torch...). Did Sony pull an evil trick and create their own tool required for opening it?

Hahah, I doubt a special tool is required. If you don't see any screws to remove, it's almost guaranteed that the case opens up either "clamshell style" or one side panel just slides off. The outer case is most probably held on by pressure-fit snap fasteners; i.e. you'll need to "yank" that first panel off.

Now, which panel to yank, that is the question. If Sony's documentation is anything like Dell's, I"m sure his owner's manual will tell/show you "How to Open the Case" to add/remove memory/videocard etc. Good luck.
