Opening a port on wireless?

For the last four months, I have been living with my friend and using his Internet through a Motorolla USB Wireless Adapter. Well, back on my old Internet, I had a port opened for everything I needed (mainly games like Starcraft BW, C&C3, etc.). Anyways, my friend just got online and wanted to play some C&C3, but I quickly realized that I don't have a port open for it anymore - not on my friend's Internet.

So, I went to portforward and checked it out, but it says I am being restricted when I try to input the router information.

Is it possible to open ports on a wireless network (don't see why not) or am I just missing something here?

Actually the Wireless has nothing to do with Open ports.

Ports are blocked by Firewalls.

Typically it is the software Firewall on the computer, and the NAT Firewall in a Cable/DSL Router (wired or wireless).

Please notice that in the Router a port can be opened toward one computer so if one computer on the Network have a game port open toward it another computer on the network would beneifit from the same port opening.

I know about how a port can be blocked, but I didn't quite understand your answer towards my question.

So do I need to open the ports on my roommate's computer, the one hooked into the router, or do I need to open a port for the router and not the wireless?

EDIT: Since I have never used a wireless adapter for Internet before, my roommate set this up for me. Currently, he is going to be gone for a few months as he is checking out different colleges. If I need to find out information about the wireless network, it might take some time before I can figure it out for myself.

Whether a Computer is Wire or wireless does NOT matter.

The ports have to be open in the Router toward the computer (goes by IP number) that run the Application/Game.

If there is software Firewall on the computer that run the Application/Game the ports have to be opened through the Firewall too.
