OpenGL problems in Half-life

I just bought an ASUS V7700 32mb GeForce 2 GTS and installed it in my 300 mhz computer with 64 mbs of RAM. But for some reason I can only play HL in Direct3D. When I set it to OpenGL the game crashes. I am using the drivers that came with the card. Should I just leave HL in Direct3D until I upgrade my computer?

What video card did you have in your computer previously? Did you remove the drivers from that video card correctly? What processor are you running? Did you try out the latest drivers from NVIDIA's website?

I had the same problem with my Asus 6800, and I think the 618 drivers.
I agree with pay, try another driver set. And Open GL looks so much better.

Recently i was looking at upgrading my 450mhz comp to a 850-1333mhz amd. I also figured i'd need to replace my v3 so looked at the geforce2. Then I saw a geforce 2 going cheap, and i had read before on a games sys reqs that stated, basically, you need more mhz if you have a v3, and less if you have a geforce. perfect. great way to squeeze a bit more out of my old work horse. So i bought the geforce 2 gts, and now I'm not even thinking about getting a newer system really, 72fps in halflife at 1200x1024 is good enough for me for another half year.

So yes, maybe a geforce 2 would do better in a faster machine, but it also takes a huge burden off of my machine and im squeezing a bit more life out of it!

Now i can play oni and project igi and soldier of fortune yay!

I got a celeron 300A @ 450 with 64mb ram. It has a 12mb Voodoo2 and I play CS in 800x600 with OK framerates. That is until someone throws a smoke grenade. :-( Drops down to about 9 or 10 FPS.

This is why Im buying a 1.2Ghz Athlon DDR system soon 🙂

I will be most likely getting a new system. I just got the video card early because its so hard to get a hold of one were I live. My old video card was an ATI Xpert 98 8mb. Thx for your help you guys.
