OpenGL 2.0, video cards, and you...?

I'm looking to buy a nVidia Geforce 6800GT card and I noticed something. These are the two cards I'm looking at, and they seem to be almost exactly the same (even in price)...

MSI: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-127-140&depa=1

EVGA: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-208&depa=1

The only big distinguishing factor between the two is that the MSI card supports OpenGL 2.0 and the EVGA card does not. What does this mean? I thought that the OGL 2.0 specification was out, but that graphics processor manufacturers had not yet built the functionality in to support it. Am I wrong? I'm just a little confused is all. Could someone clear this up for me?

(By the way, I run Linux exclusively so OpenGL is vital to my usage. DirectX can go suck a nut for all I care 😛)

Interesting find.

This from nVidia's site on features of the 6800 series

OpenGL® 2.0 Optimizations and Support
Ensures the best performance and application compatibility for all OpenGL applications

Why the egg says OGL 1.5 for the EVGA seems odd. What does the EVGA site say about it?

The cards are the same regarding support for Open GL 2.0. Those descriptions are never too reliable. ATI has been claiming OGL2.0 support for a long time now.

I have seen other products like this that are very similar (if not the same) and show varied descriptions. Regardless of what they say, I would trust nVidia's site over anything written at the egg.
