I've been trying for the past 7 hours to get openvpn to work with pfsense. No go. The process is very complex and tedious. Copy this here, copy that there, run this, run that. Nothing's working. I set it to TCP so troubleshooting can be easier, and it does not look like anything I did is even doing anything. I can't connect to the port so it looks like the server is not even listening. I don't even know if there *IS* a server, nothing in the pfsense's openvpn documentation actually talks about starting a service or anything.
I did get it to work a while back on a separate server but it stopped working and I never did manage to get it to work again. Is there perhaps a distro out there that automates the whole process and has a full blown web based system that will then give you a package to put on the client? Having to manually generate all the certificates and crap is just so tedious.
I'm also open to an alternative to open vpn. In fact I'd even be happy with something like RDP that is Linux based.. and no not VNC, that is slow (currently what I use). I mean something as fast as RDP. Though preferably I'd like a VPN type solution.
