I just ran a search on both variants of the term open source and saw no threads in the Video forums about this, so I figure I'm the first one to think of bringing this to the AT forums...

Anyway, for those of you who think that you know better than nVidia and ATI, now you can prove it. Check this out:
http://open-graphics.duskglow.com/openspec.pdf (Found on Slashdot.org recently, so I'm presuming this is new)

Right now the spec list is pure ass (250MHz GPU, AGP 4x compliance, 128MB GDDR1, doesn't appear to conform to DX9/10 or OGL2.0 specs), but that's where the open-source part comes in. They're looking for people to contribute to the development of a specification that will go up into the public domain for video card companies to grab and fabricate themselves. At least, that's my understanding of it, so if I'm wrong, I claim ignorance of the law. ;)
Oh, and if this is old, I also claim ignorance of the issue, since this HAS been /. front page twice by now...

Edit: Linkified for the lazy posters out there; I forgot AT's forums don't auto-parse URLs with the proper code...
