I've been trying to find an open sourced solution for an afterschool child care center for one of our Catholic School clients. While there are plenty of closed source solutions, there doesn't seem to be anything OSS directly for a day care center. If anyone knows of a program that can do something similar, please post.

Exactly what kind of info do you need to keep track of?
If you dig around online for awhile you'd be amazed at how many Office templates are available.
Depending on what you want, you may be able to find an Access Database or Excel Spreadsheet that can do the job.

To answer you question: I dont know of anything. This is the sort of stuff that usually isnt open source. Folks generally like to make money and have control over this sort of thing.

Many such applications are designed off of an employee style database with extra fields depending on specific requirements.

Centers purchase such S/W that is customized toward their additional requirements and/or imposed by the state.

Some centers are nationwide and will have their own IT staff to customize an application that they may have developed/purchased.

Touch screen, external keypads, video reference, etc are "addons" that add costs for S/W, H/W and support

If they don't have a dedicated IT/computer support person, I would strongly recommend a commercial solution.
