Open Range, the movie with DuVall and Costner

OutHouse

its my A list when it comes to westerns. Devall and Costner are awesome in it, their roles work very very well.

also it has the best f*cking gun fight of any western made.

Yeah, I agree...I saw it in the theaters when it released and was very disappointed that there wasn't a larger audience for it.

It was on HDnet some time ago I think, looked great.

'Dances with Wolves is my favorite western.

'Open Range' is a damn close second. Exellent film that stays away from typical Hollywood cliche's when it comes to westerns. A+

The gun fight at the end finally gets it right, to.

One of the best and most realistic Westerns of all time. I saw it in the theater and loved it, and have since watched it 20 times at home, rewinding and rewatching the entire gunfight shot-by-shot until I could tell who got whom and where and how. Truly an instant classic. If you like Westerns and/or Robert Duvall, you MUST see this movie!

I love it when he just goes up and shoots that bad guy in the head.

You mean right when the gunfight starts? "You the one that killed our friend?" 😀 Its just as cool when he takes out the guy holding Sue hostage at very close range; he's almost thrusting the gun at him like a knife.

I'd have to say my favorite part, despite the spectacular shoot-out, is Duvall's speech in the saloon. Possibly his finest moment on film, or at least way up there with his part in Apocalypse Now.
