I am on OO day 1. I am not a programmer, but I do want to add the word count add on to Writer. Do I have a prayer of doing it myself? Can someone point me to exact, step by step instructions for my first tweak to OO?

I have installed the latest version of OO and I have downloaded the word count script. What now??

HELP! Thanks....

As far as I can tell, my OOo Writer (1.1 beta 2) has the word count feature if you go to File>Properties and click on the "Statistics" tab. What is your version? Maybe things have changed since you last updated. Or am I completely missing some keey piece of information here?

Nope, my bad. I can get a word count for the whole doc the way you did. I meant that this add on allows you to get the word count for a selection, rather than the whole doc. I'm a writer, so I have to watch out for word count in chunks.

Thanks!
