Open Office.. any users?

Has anyone used or tried Open Office? I installed it on a spare computer because I didn't have Office XP cd handy.. but it opened all my docs properly..

But the interface is weird.. I guess I am a little too used to MS Office, but I don't like the floating toolbar in Writer... But its free... btw, what happened to Star Office?
 
I've used it. I prefer StarOffice though. The latest 6.0 release is good. Only drawback is SO isn't free anymore, but it only costs $60 or $70 compared to several hundred for MS Office.
 
I've been using it exclusively for about 6 months or so now. I have an MS Office 2000 cd, but wanted to give OpenOffice.org a real shot. Frankly I don't miss anything, and you can't beat FREE!


Only odd things I've noticed once in a while, are sometimes little widgets won't look the same when you open it in MS Office products or vice versa.


Star Office branched off and split with Open Office when Star Office stopped being free. They're still very similar.
 
the word processor is a great alternative to ms word, especially if you use linux. It's the best free word processor I know of thought my spell checker seems to be b0rken.
