Does anyone know how I could open multiple word files in a folder at once (including in a few subfolder)?

Thanks:)

Normally just highlight the files in the folder & press enter (Shift+Arrow keys). Similarly, additional files existing in other folders may be opened (for inclusion). I think though that using this procedure you will be limited to multiple openings at the folder level.

If you want or need to open a bunch of documents scattered all over the HDD & they are always the same files (name wise) & kept in the same locations, then just use the built-in MACRO function to create a one stroke open all. (There are probably other ways such as using hyperlinks or writing a simple Batch file, but it is not sufficiently clear what your are intending to accomplish.)

You can open as many as you like - but they will be displayed in the Task Bar - you can go from one to the other.

Do you mean, how to see them all at the same time on screen? That's a different kettle of fish. But doable. In Word 2007, with several open, you can set View to split the screen, even Show All.

I need a way to click on one folder...and tell a program (i.e. MS Word or any other program that reads .doc files) to open all docs in that folder and subfolders. And the files are not scattered all over the hdd just in one folder that has three or four subfolders.

Basically I need a "just one or two clicks to open multiple .docs" option!

EDIT: Just like C1 said but that doesn't limit it only to that folder level.

Sorry if I'm not phrasing this right:)

What you could do is create a bunch of shortcuts to all of the files, and then launch all of them from shortcuts.

Say your documents are in C:/docs/january, C:/docs/february, and C:/docs/march. Make a new folder called C:/docs/shortcuts. Select all of the files in the january folder, right click, select "create shortcut". Move all of the shortcuts to C:/docs/shortcuts, then do the same for february and march. Now you can select all of the shortcuts in that folder and launch all 3 months at the same time.
