What part of "minor" is not clear to you? Until she reaches legal age (presumably 18), her parents make health care decisions for her, which includes abortions.

Correct ^ ... with some wiggle room depending on certain "welfare of the child" issues like refusing lifesaving treatment based on religious beliefs. But in this case, I'm guessing there isn't any of that going on.

According to him, they were shouting "burn in hell." I've seen "Operation Rescue" protesters outside Planned Parenthood where I live. They carry signs with hacked up fetuses and bible quotes, and they shout nasty slogans at people who enter. I seriously doubt the dad went off the deep end over them handing out a few informational pamphlets.

Your thread title really misrepresents what happened here. The person making the ostensible threat wasn't doing so as a pro-choice political statement. He was doing so as a parent with a daughter who was going to get an abortion. It was personal more than political. Huge difference.

I suspect you are correct, although obviously there is no way either of us can know unless the whole incident was caught on video tape. But I suspect the girl merely took literature being pushed on her. Either way I wouldn't convict were I on the jury over a mere threat and the possible "brandishing" of bullets without a gun. And I seriously doubt this is going to change anyone's mind either way.

We don't have to tolerate people like that.. EVER.. THEY were INTOLERANT OF THAT FAMILY'S DECISION.. NOW WHAT????

GTFO of strangers faces..

Abortion clinic protesters are grade A douchebags that I'm not about to defend, but this is hilarious.

I hope you'll remember this the next time somebody is protesting a right wing cause.

So much for the pro-choice 'it's my body' argument.

That argument works fine for an adult. For a minor, not so much. The girls parents are the ultimate deciding factor.
For what little it is worth I support parental consent laws for minors to have an abortion.

Defense: Well a bullet to their heart would have sent them to Heaven early anyway. It would have been a huge favor.

Prosection: Hmm, good point.

I am against abortion in most cases, but if protesters were yelling things like "Burn in hell" then they are way out of line. It is one thing if they present a viewpoint in a civil manner. It is another to present a view like they are responding to a thread in ATP&N. Of course the guy who made the threat was also out of line. He was in a stressful situation, so i am guessing the additional stress provided by the protesters didn't help much. However, there is still no excuse for the threat. Everyone loses, yay.

You can yell anything you want. The girl was interested in other forms than abortion, and showed interest, then was shot down by her father when she wanted information from the women.

But far be it from the tolerant left to face facts.

Done arguing with idiots. Read the story. It is all there, and your idiocy won't ever stop, as you've showed here and in countless threads. So like Craig, I'll just ignore your posts and carry on as usual.

How do you know that she was interested in something else?

In New Mexico, minors do not need parental consent for an abortion.

I learned something new today :)

Each state can make it's own laws, but it makes no logical sense to me to say one the one hand "you're liable for anything the child does before age 18, you are in charge of their welfare etc etc", then "except the kid can go out and do something potentially life-changing without your consent".

I'm all for personal choice, but minors should not be making major decisions like that without their parents consent.

I am confused....

Protesting at an abortion is wrong and should not be allowed.

But protesting at the funeral of a member of the military killed in action is acceptable??

Did I get the left wing POV correct?

Huh? If you think those are the arguments you are being intentionally obtuse.

Not much different than those showing up to Obama events with their 9's strapped to their thighs. Except this guy was being pushed by assholes.

Big f'n whoop. These protesters are only a step above Westborough Baptist. I'm sure the Westborough people get threatened all the time. It's not like anybody was shot, which can't be said for the victims of batshit crazy Christian doctor killers.

Oh, right. Because the decision your parents press on you, much like these "religious nuts" you claim these people are, always make the best decisions for you and always present you with enough information about all the open decisions.

Wrong.

Actually, in the case of a 16 year old, abortion really is the best solution.

These people are in fact religious nuts. They believe so strongly in their primitive mystic belief system that they try to ram it down other people's throats. Our nation would be a lot better off if they would relocate to some other country and create Jesusland, an Iranian-like Christian theocracy. They don't belong in a modern nation while advocating the kind of philosophy that hinders innovation and societal development.

I suspect that most of these cretins were indoctrinated with this fairy-tale belief system since birth and lack the mental reasoning ability needed to question their primitive mystic belief systems.

I support what that father did. If someone said that shit to my daughter in a tough situation like that it would be real fucking hard to not punch their teeth out.
