My group is looking at installing OpenLDAP into our environment. I'm looking to see if there's a good GUI interface I can use with it, I've seen a few web page types so I know they exist. I just don't know if anyone's used them before and could point me towards one that is really good. The reason I need a GUI is the people that will be handling a lot of the tasks like resetting passwords will not have access to the servers, and use Windows workstations. I also don't trust them to really be able to do much more than click on something so having them run scripts or worse having them attempt to use the cmd gives me nightmares.

Thanks for looking..

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenLDAPServer#Web-based

?

I've never used one myself. I've used Webmin for servers, but not LDAP.

I would probably want a Web-based one to keep it simple.

Thanks for the link

I should have mentioned these are Redhat based servers, but I believe most of those web based tools worked on them as well. I'm really leaning web based, as I'm not sure there's even a client based one out there. There prob is (edit: there is on the link itself.. reading is fundamental..), but it really didn't cross my mind. Either way, I was hoping someone installed and worked with one they'd recommend..

If you are using Redhat, look into using their Identity Management software. It's based on FreeIPA, which has a really nice GUI and integrates LDAP, kerberos, and tons of other things into one place. I was looking for something very similar to you, and FreeIPA's GUI was the best that I found.
