Open GL Screensavers and 6800GT

I noticed that when I use an open gl screensaver, it raises the core gpu temperature considerably. What I did was put the temperature window and display properties window next to each other. I then changed to an open gl screensaver, in which the only "preview" you have is the little computer in the display properties window. I then noticed that my gpu temperature went from 53C to 67C! Does this make any sense? Could it be a driver issue?
