open gl error

when i added a new video card (ati rage pro 8mb) to my current computer that had intergrated, im getting a open gl error when opening counter-strike in open gl mode. ive downloaded the latest drivers but still does not work. Is it just because my video card does not support opengl? or is there any way around it
 
Well, it probably supports OpenGL, but because that hardware isn't very powerful at all, its driver likely doesn't implement a high enough version or a needed extension; and while OpenGL requires software fallback for operations not done in hardware, that's mainly a legacy to the old days of SGI, who chose more powerful main processing over specialized graphics hardware, because scientific simulations don't require the smooth framerates that games do, and ATI has more important things to do than to write software fallback routines for very old hardware to run newer OpenGL versions.

Use better hardware, or play an older game.
