Here we see a flourishing country with generous social welfare programs designed to uplift those in need. These programs were funded by high taxes and intended to keep its populace living in harmony; not designed to handle an influx of 3rd world immigrants that are living off these handouts.
What the media wants to portray is that the riots were sparked by an "unjust killing" of a man wielding a machete, taking place in immigrant communities. What they don't explicitly state is that they are started by the immigrants. They blame it on government social programs that failed combat youth unemployment and poverty. Where was this issue before the state was overrun by these immigrants?
This problem seems all to familiar here.

OP, now you know why I have been a long time advocate for LEGAL immigration for people with skill, knowledge, and money and not for ILLEGALS with no skill and unable to speak English.

one thing i found out.... speaking english doesn't make you smart and not speaking english doesn't make you illiterate. it also doesn't preclude you one way or another from violence and illegal activities.

If you are unable to speak English it makes it awfully difficult to function in the US and get a job to support your family.

And I think you will find that most people attempting to immigrate to the US with actual skills can speak English.

Nothing is absolute. There are always the outliers/exceptions.

But one thing is for sure. If a person can speak English, have skill, have money, will more than likely (again, not saying absolutely) to make it in his/her new country than the ones that don't.

Agreed, except every time someone tries to actually fix the immigration system to allow in more legal immigrants that US companies want and need (because there aren't enough American engineers in certain fields, for example), all we get is obstruction from the GOP with nonsense demands like WE CAN'T CHANGE IMMIGRATION LAWS UNTIL WE FIX THE BORDER, nevermind that even the Berlin Wall wasn't 100% impermeable and illegal crossings are at a low point relative to the past few decades. (That's if it even gets to debate; the most recent immigration reform collapsed simply because - according to GOP leadership itself - they weren't willing to be seen working with Obama on anything, no matter what it is)

Right now our excellent universities bring in the world's greatest talent, then summarily kicks most of them out even if companies want to hire them and they want to stay. It's shooting our economy in the foot for absolutely no rational reason.

That makes it complicated, because most people migrating (illegaly) to the US are mostly non english speaking. So the argument about skills/english is moot.

i agree 1000000000%.

but that doesn't mean we should also grant the privilege of citizenship to tens of millions of illegals who shortcut the entire damn system. if anything, i would think that would encourage more illegal immigration - if they come in large enough numbers, it becomes impractical to deport them all, and politicians cave in and grant citizenship.

no. hell no.

It's overcast and the high is going to be 59 here today. I hear ya, the GOP pretty much fucks everything up.

Oh, and in light of what Obama is doing these days, working with him could put you in jail.

I blame the GOP for something they've done and continue to do in reality, you extend that to blaming them for something they have no control over. Flawless rebuttal!

Actually you've blamed the GOP for a non-problem. High skilled workers are not the problem with immigration. It's the millions of unskilled workers that drive down wages and suck up government resources at rates that far outstrip their contribution to the economy.

Ethnicity conveniently left out, eh? Oh wait, merely pointing that fact that will make it racist.

Even if Europe wanted immigrants there are no shortage of applicants that possesses qualifications, skills and moral standards other than breathing through the mouth or copulation.

No, in fact closed doors would be best for all involved this video explains it best;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPjzfGChGlE

Not just America but the entire West can not afford to take in the worlds poor, nor should the West poach the best of the best from poor countries, else these countries are never going to get better.
