I guess this will be the excuse to raise the gas prices that the gas companies never brought back down.

Just as gas prices started to go down. Looks like $2 a gallon gas is here to stay. :(

If you look at the bright side of things, maybe this will get alternative fuel programs more incentive to get going. :)

U.S. light crude rose 88 cents to $28.01 a barrel, while London benchmark Brent crude jumped 98 cents to $26.50 after an initial jump of more than a dollar.
A 3% increase in price per barrel, anybody want to guess how prices at the pump will rise?

Guess I'll top off today on the way home at $1.36/gallon.

Gas always goes up on Thursdays anyway.

I'll take my $0/gallon and raise you 3 gas guzzling sub-20mpg vehicles. Having an dad with an alcohol blood level instead of a blood alcohol level, and a local liquor store with gas pumps has advantages. Even so, I'm looking into loading an International 3800 diesel engine into the truck. 5MPG on gas ain't cool.

OPEC cuts oil shipments

Good, maybe this will make my trip to school a lot less frustrating. Commuters driving alone in their cars over the Verrazano bridge causing the local streets flooded with backed up cars and ultimately makes the bus come 15-20 minutes later. :| I left my home at 6:45 to make it to a 9:10 class this morning and I was still late. (mind you it takes 1 hour on a weekend or at 3 am in the morning when there is actually LESS bus and train service)

American's have to do their part not to consume oil(gasoline) needlessly, try to at least care about the environment, and be willing to carpool whenever possible. Not just hop into the car where they work in the city. (Then they complain why they get parking violations..Because there aren't any places to park in the city..unless its in Harlem, but I wouldn't leave my car there ;) )

My 1 hour bus/train ride is prolonged into a 3 hour maze of hopping trains, catching buses and wasting my time as cars pass by feverously while in their dust is rows and rows of buses that missed their arrival time because of them. :|

Sorry part rant.. but its my 2nd time this semester I was late for the class... and the teacher is really hot (asian :D )

LOL!

Personally I don't care much about gas prices. I made my bed and I'll sleep in it; if I cared I'd ditch the maxima for something cheaper like another sentra. Gas prices can double for all I care. It's ridiculous for people to be driving some of the cars they drive anyway, so it would be a good motivation for alternative energy R&D, and people to drop some of the ridiculously low MPG vehicles they drive now.

I'm sick of people driving around their 20MPG SUVs with 1 person in them and thereby making moving this family around or cutting down firewood require vehicles 20-30 years old because the only alternatives are underpowered or cost $60,000. I'd love to drive somthing fuel efficient, but it ain't gonna happen until someone figures out that I don't want to pay $60,000 for a diesel engined pickup or van.

just look at all the v8 sedan's, they get the same mpg. heck even some v6 sedans get that.

I love it how people b!tch about the price of gas when, adjusted for inflation, it probably should be well above $2/gallon for regular unleaded.

Right now, where I live it's about $1.39/gallon. I remember paying about that much almost 20 years ago!

It goes up...it goes down.

If your monthly budget is that tight that a $20/mo. swing in fuel costs could make or break you, you need to find other ways to lower expenses....or get a better paying (or 2nd) job.

And...to those b!tching about Bush...

From the Dept. of Energy

The United States averaged total gross oil (crude and products) imports of an estimated 11.4 MMBD during 2002, representing around 58% of total U.S. oil demand. Around two-fifths of this oil came from OPEC nations, with Persian Gulf sources accounting for about one-fifth of total U.S. oil imports. Overall, the top suppliers of oil to the United States during 2002 were Canada (1.9 MMBD), Saudi Arabia (1.6 MMBD), Mexico (1.5 MMBD), and Venezuela (1.4 MMBD).

So, at most, 40% of our imported oil, which is less than 60% of the total consumed in the U.S., is from OPEC. If Iraq increases production (and we haven't bought oil from Iraq in years), it just may very well lower prices from OPEC.

Iraq is part of OPEC

I know, but I could have sworn that the article I read said that this was excluding Iraq's output.
