[OOS]

SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

= $229.99
- $20 MIR (Limit 1 per household, expires December 31, 2015 & must be post-marked within 30 days of purchase)
= $209.99

Videocard Length: 10.9 inches (~27.7 cm)

If you can get past the fact that this card was designed to run at 94-95C and you game with closed headphones/speakers turned up loud (i.e., do not mind how loud this card would be), then this is THE best bang for the buck among all the 960/380/380X/280X cards for 1080p and 1440p gaming.

And for 1440P, the value is straight up unbeatable.

290 is ~7-10% slower than a 290X:

Not a bad $210 stop-gap over the next 18-20 months while the 14nm/16nm GPU price wars get underway.

OOS already. Got sidetracked while checking to see if this Prolimatech MK-13 would fit on the card, and waited too long. THis would have been perfect for stepson with a big honking VGA cooler on it. Using moonbogg's 670's for DC stuff.

What are you running Folding @ Home?

I wouldn't suggest buying a $50-60 after-market cooler with a $210 R9 290. At that point might as well wait for a deal on a 390/970.

I run BOINC, where there are dozens of GPU projects. I have a Prolimatech MK-13 on a 5870 right now. Hence the delay checking to see if it would fit on a r9 290. I thought I worded it as such.

Reference cards are supposedly a good choice for those with small cases (like mITX) since they tend to draw cool air from the side of the case and dump it right out the back.
