The 3850 served me well for 5 months, until i upgraded to my 4830 this week. It was an awesome card for the $$. I spent $99 on it. Now my 4830 cost me $99

Without knowing how loud your other components are and the noise floor of your room, I'd still wager a "no". I'd only count on passively cooled GPUs for HTPC environment (with an optional low-flow 120mm fan blowing over it).

All gone........that was a good deal.

tbogstad: This card is a few frames slower/few frames faster on some games compared to the 8800GS/9600GSO at standard resolutions, but that gap widens with higher resolutions (1680x1050 and up). I'd go for the the nVidia flavor if FPS were your main concern.
