Nice price, but the short 1 year warranty / MTBF of only 30,000 hours at 25 degrees doesn't inspire much confidence in this unit.

Yeah, I'm not saying that this is even remotely-related to the pinnacle of ATX PSU technology. What I will say is, "it's $19.99".

A working 80plus APFC with "protections", for $20, is still somewhat of a deal. Especially if it has 6+2pin connector.

Edit: I mean, if you can afford better, then by all means, get a better PSU, like an EVGA G-series or a SeaSonic focus Gold.

but for cases like my friend's kids gaming PC, with a G4560 2C/4T CPU and a 2GB GDDR5 video card, it should fit the bill.

True.

I just never heard of this line before, so I took a look. I wasn't expecting a long warranty, but the 1 year warranty surprised me (was expecting it to be around the usual 3 years for many budget units). Some people would be OK with it though, so I was just relaying my thoughts. :D

Rosewill PSUs in general have short warranties (relative to other brands) pretty-much across-the-board. It's one way that they can keep costs lower, without cheaping out on the actual PSU. (Counter-intuitive, I know.)

I've used the 400RD and 450RD models before in builds, and I've had no complaints.

Edit: I appreciate your feedback and analysis, definitely.

Edit: For a slight step up, I recommend the Antec Value Power lineup. I don't know if they still make them, but I got a decent deal on a decent 650W PSU.

I miss the $30 Antec Neo Eco 620c of yesteryear, but I've seen the Seasonic M(?)12 620W for near the same price recently, and it's practically the same PSU.

PSU deals have been scarce, for whatever reason. $20 bucks for not terrible is pretty good these days.
Yeah, I agree. I think that the reason that this one is discounted this much, is because it's a new product (*line, the "Z"), and they're trying to get sales out there, to get positive reviews, to sort of "grease the skids" for overall sales numbers. I've seen that before. So expect, that possibly, once they start to get positive reviews for these models, that prices will rise slightly. (Though, in the budget category that they're in, I don't see the price on these going much higher than $40 for "list price", either, so take my theory with a grain of salt. These aren't higher-end "Gaming PSUs", really.)
