Yeah, I know, 80Plus Gold-rated, and RaidMax generally don't go together, but there you have it. 800W to boot. A little birdie once told me that in order to do the 80Plus testing, the PSU in question actually had to sustain that load, for at least a little while. So possibly, these aren't bad PSUs? At least, not as bad as a "Traditional RaidMax"?

Considering the price of 1st-tier 80Plus Gold PSUs these days, might it be worth picking up a few of these for secondary rigs? (I'd still go with SeaSonic or EVGA for primary rigs.)

Non-modular, but considering the price that's basically a given.

I have a NIB EVGA 750 G+ NIB from the end of 2018 $60. Is that better than this Raidmax?

I remember those. Yeah, those should be a bit better grade of PSU than the RaidMax. The RaidMax does claim to use Jpn. caps, and DC-to-DC topology, but it only has a 2-year warranty. The EVGA has 10 years (if registered?).

I am running the 650W G+ PSU on my two secondary rigs right now. Pretty flawless.

The only reason that I got the 650W models, was that the 750W was sold out at the time; they were both $60 or so, on ebay and EVGA's site.

I got mine directly from EVGA for $60 all in. Wait, I had a $5 off gypsy coupon code so $55. I also have a NIB 280mm Cooler Master AIO. But I need to buy a $10 adapter for AM4. I don't have much of an inventory in my garage of parts or components. I do have an extensive thinkpad collection and a bunch of laptop CPU's

So what happened with PSU pricing, was it tariffs or ?
Deals have been very scarce.

Would love to see some of those $20 AR 80+ 450W PSU's from the olden days. Helped a friend with a new Ryzen 2600X build, and he re-used a scary bad POS PSU, maybe 70% efficient.

I bought the EVGA 450w bronze stuff in bulk. My strike price was $24 but it got them as low as $14.99

So when do motherboards and power supplies make the switch over to ATX12VO? When this happens, will we see a lot of these PSUs go on sale?

That's basically OEM only.

Companies like Dell HP etc use weird proprietary connectors and PSUs. After a new energy efficiency bill passed, ATX12VO was created in an attempt to standardize and improve efficiency of all that crap. The spec was not made to be suitable for enthusiast, gaming, and/or custom built systems.
