That's an older drive and requires a lot of power as most older portable hard drives do. It's probably slower than the new models too.
You can get the newer ones for about the same price on ebay or slightly more expensive at other sites.
These portable hard drives prices are finally coming down. There was a 160gb seagate for $55 awhile ago on newegg and 250gb ones can be had for $100 constantly while 160gb ones are $75 or cheaper.

For example: right now at staples, use $25 off $75 code to get $90 160gb WD Passport for $65.

How much power? How slow? It's a 5400rpm drive with a 9ms seek time. Thats not bad for this type of drive and price. It has to run at USB 2.0 specifications anyways which I think is a max 500ma?

Only seagate on newegg that is 160gb is $85.

I don't see any deals comparable to this. $50, for most people no tax, and no shipping.

I have to agree with dakels. This is an excellent deal, and the specifications on the drive are quite good, given the price point. You really won't find faster unless you're willing to spring the money for a 7200 rpm drive.

Anyone know if this uses a SATA or IDE drive?

I need a cheap SATA drive for my PS3.

I placed the order yesterday 6:03am PST and this morning I found the order was voided. It says it's backorder item. Newegg let me down this time.

Sales Rep. told me there were 1300 units sold out within 3 hours ( 6am - 9am PST ). I wonder why my order didn't go thru.

Anyone ordered it and got it shipped out? Or Newegg was BS about it?

* anyway, I think this HDD series has low customer rating. So maybe I am lucky that I saved $50 for good.
