I guess this is what the Asus fire-sale on these cards looks like? Or at least, the early part of it.

RX 6800/6800XT/6900XT are coming! If you can hold out, wait, but it might be a while for release and then stocks of cards to be actually available.

OTOH, pretty-much ALL of the $229.99 GTX 1660 Super cards are ALL sold out. Hmm. Lack of supply, or increased (mining?) demand? Or just lots of people needing / wanting a "new" GPU, under $250, and nothing coming up immediately from NVidia or AMD in that price range?

Interesting. I know this year makes predictions difficult. But, how do things normally go with vid cards and a new launch? I haven't bought a new vid card since the Radeon 9500 Pro days (man....I'm old...). Wait for the old high end to slide? Pounce on the mid range that creeps into the high low end? Just curious.

Edit: I know it all depends on what kind of rig you are using. I'm building a low middle of the pack rig when you consider just component costs....

Mining demand? Bitcoin is almost $16,000 now, and rising. Maybe some mining FOMO going on Real Soon Now. Then again, ETH will be moving to PoS soon, with ETH 2.0, which would mean an end to mining that. Also, there is a proposal to "burn" transaction fees, rather than give them to miners as part of and addition to the "native" block rewards. Hell, why give lowly 'miners' rewards at all, Vitilek, they only drive your blockchain.

You can't mine BTC for crap with GPUs. It's a huge waste of time, you're much better off buying used ANT miners and at least getting some hash rate for your power use.

That said, I hope AMD drops cards in volume. Trying to get some decent but older cards right now is extremely a crap shoot. We need the new cards to displace some higher end stuff so it can all waterfall down. I am tired of chasing cards from 5 years ago that people still think should cost $150+ despite being outclassed by 1650 Super (looking at you GTX 970/980s).

@PrinceXizor - I know we've already talked about this, but my best deals have been from watching new ebay listings that are buy it now like a hawk & craigslist where people sell off whole systems for ~$200-$300 but include the GPU. I buy it, take what I want, put in an older GPU and usually sell it for reasonably close prices. It's a PITA but that's why they are available.

I wasn't suggesting that you should. Anyone that knows mining, knows that when Bitcoin's price spikes up, there is increased interest in mining altcoins with GPUs.
