This may be my opportunity to get into SSD.

I'm thinking about using this as my OS drive and a couple of games, and having everything else on a couple of 1TB Spinpoint F3's in Raid. Anyone anticipate any problems with a setup like this? ASrock Z68 Pro3 board.

Yeah, OOS.

This is looking like a good lead-up to Black Friday. New SandForce firmware and dropping prices, oh my! Here's to hoping for a good 240-256GB SATA 6Gbps SSD for under $200 by then. If that happens, I'm buying one.

I'm hoping for this scenario, too, although I would have bought this one had I made it in time.

Hoping that it might come back in stock later today or something. I know it makes basically no sense, but now that I have an SATA 6Gbps motherboard, I'm kind of tempted to upgrade my 120GB Vertex 2 to this. Unfortunately it was OOS by the time I saw the thread. Congrats to those who got in on the deal, though, great price. These drives have had a lot of firmware issues and wouldn't be near the top of my list of recommended SSDs, but at this price I'd be willing to take the risk, and it sounds like more recent firmwares have been doing a pretty good job of addressing the problems.

I've got the 60GB version of this. The first one was freezing at arrival (computer locks up for up to a minute then resumes, rinse and repeat frequently). This was on an i5-2500k with an P67 revision B3 chipset. Crucial RMA'ed a new in box drive without even troubleshooting. The replacement worked fine for a bit, but then started doing the same thing. I have yet to try the SSD in anything else so it's kinda sitting around doing nothing at the moment. Haven't tried any newer firmwares if they've released any. Still haven't received my rebate after...three, four months?

I'm running a Vertex 2 60GB at the moment, and there was very little perceptible speed increase from the Vertex 2 in day-to-day ops. If you're running a fast 3Gbit SandForce already there's no need to upgrade to a 6Gbit drive in my opinion unless you're really banging the I/O. I guess that's why I haven't really bothered to try and use the drive on anything else yet.

In for one. I already have a SSD but this one is better and I'll put my cheap one in my laptop.

Which SSDs are the ones that just sorta format or corrupt themselves out of the blue? I remember it was a sandforce...

awesome 4:27PM EST got in and with 10$ code, i dont think anything will beat this this year, the closest incredible deal this year under my watch was the 180GB Revodrive for 180$ from NCIX a few months back but this corsair will go for under a 1$ per GB.
