Oops wrong forum. Win2k problems

of the 5 times that i've had to install win2k on my computer, 1 of them was due to some system file that was missing (and it was unrepairable), and 3 were due to corrupt profiles, ( was worried that all my other profiles would get corrupted so i started again with a new clean install). is there anything that i can do to prevent my profiles from corrupting...they seem to be happening a lot to me.

Off Topic seems to be merging with all the other forums such as technical support. Oh well, I'm bored.

Have you tried repartitioning your harddrive? Have you done a thorough scandisk? It could be because of some bad clusters and sectors on your harddrive. That, or get another copy of win2k. wink wink nod nod

hahaha...well, i have scanned thoroughly, and i've used both partition magic and the windows installation thing, to partition my hd.

Oh yea, boot up with a norton antivirus cd and scan the entire harddrive. You might be leaving a virus in there somehow.

Try backing up your system state regularly. In fact, I'm going to do it right now...

You might also want to try formatting your Windows 2000 partition as NTFS.

Are you installing Win2K on an NTFS or a FAT32 partition? Does your location have frequent power outages? Do you shut off the pc w/o shutting it down first?

i've tried both ntfs and FAT32, that norton antivirus suggestion sounds like a good idea, i've just gotta find my copy somewhere in my spindle of programs :-/.
