Oops Taiwan Earthquake to cause memory prices to go up again?

well, damage has to occur u know for something to happen. otherwise, life goes on..

i have been to taiwan 6 times to visit family. earthquakes are normal. after all, its on the asian rim..

Even if they had a lot of damage like the last big one, I think Taiwan only produces 17% of the worlds memory....... now motherboards on the other hand........ hmmmmmmmmmmmm 😉

Cheers,
Aquaman

Exactly. Earthquake in Taiwan. Everybody says, regardless of the damage, this is going to provide necessary animus to hike memory prices -- a tiny bit. But the thing about people like us is we want the memory at the lowest price possible, so everybody is going to buy some, like, NOW! Increase that demand. Prices do rise. All the punters who aren't part of the hardware scene will get warned by the tech press in a few weeks, Buy now -- prices are rising. My Goodness! -- prices suddenly, measurably, significantly rise. Durn! Remember the good old days of summer 2001 when memory prices were so low? Who would have thought that in a matter of months they'd be x!

Even if there was no significant damage, this can still be used as an excuse to raise prices. Sorta like when there's a refinery fire in California so they raise gas prices. Even though the refinery doesn't make gas for California. Or even for cars. Usually for ships or something.
