Oops! NPR agrees O'reilly interview not fair

Would you argue against that O'Reilly routinely uses similar aggressive interviewing practices on his guests? At a minimum it is a case of the pot and the kettle, which by default makes O'Reilly a sh2tty interviewer. Anyone who watches him and actually takes him seriously merely wants to have their own vindictive fantasies played out on TV I guess its something for them to eat their Hungry Jack meals to.

Well BigDude, if you are insinuating NPR is bias I suggest you compare to FOX and who has more awards for *journalism.* No flag-worshipping fascist groups don't count, they must be peer-reviewed industry recongised awards. psst. I don't think FOX has ever won one I mean they do get their "jounalists" from Inside Edition after all what can you expect. NPR leads.

and npr does not have to worry about the commercial viability of their programs when they produce them. fox does. awards don't mean jack crap when one of the entities competing for them is publically subsidized.

that's not even touching the fact that fox's purpose does not include the sorts of programs NPR produces.

I'm not sure the news should have "commerical viability" Lucky. It was always what you needed to hear in the past and every news program operated at a loss which was then subsidized by regular progamming, not by whos boinking whom in hollywood. Regaudless compare FOX to any other network if you wish ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN who also now have to have commerical viability and FOX is still the loser.

Popularity means nothing as far as quality of product they put out just like Popular Mechanics is'nt the #1 science publication in the world Science is.

I am still waiting to hear how any news network is "leftwing" one bit. They never talk about homeless or pro-labor and pro-consumer issues. All insteed are comtrolled by a few massive corporations all of whom have conservative economic agendas and seem to worship the overdog. Sure it's what sells but it's hardy left-wing.

You completely missed my point. I was responding to a post that said in essence that since NPR has won so many more awards they must be better than fox. Well that's not exactly fair. NPR has a guaranteed revenue stream and can afford to both go outside the bounds and also make a few mistakes in the process of producing all these supposed award winning shows. The programming is also not forced to cater to certain demographics to obtain more advertising dollars either.

That is in fact the issue Franken addresses in the first chapter of his book. I listened to the interview, and I'm not sure why O'Reilly was so mad, other than that he didn't get to plug his book. All the interviewer was asking him to do was defend himself against the claims Franken made in his book. As I'm sure O'Reilly has read the chapters in the book that are about him, it shouldn't be too hard for him to defend himself - unless what Franken wrote was true. If what Franken wrote was true, that would make O'Reilly a liar - considering how O'Reilly treats people who he judges to be lying, I think I'd like O'Reilly to set the record straight about his own honesty.
