The other day the power cord for my laptop stopped working. It'd been flexed, bent, coiled and uncoiled enough times, and one of the conductors had just completely broken near the plug that goes into the back of the laptop.
So, I did what any self-respecting geek would do, and cut the cable apart and soldered the broken connector back together. I wrapped everything in electrical tape and continued using the laptop.
Well, I think the electric tape moved, or tore, and two of the conductors in the cable touched each other.
A small puff of smoke came out of the back of my laptop and it shut off.
Kinda sucks, but I'm not that pissed because I ordered this on Monday.
