I downloaded some stuff in Firefox and I forgot to save it to the disk. It just downloaded it to the temp directory and opened the file.

It's a video file of one of the games from the E3 stuff going on. It's an mpg movie but when I searched my computer for *.mpg, it didn't show up. Where do the temperary files get saved to?? WinXP btw...

EDITTTTTTTTTTTTTT
I found IE's, but where's Firefox's temp folder?

Oh, hmmm
I just found this:
C:\Documents and Settings\MAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

is there a way to open the videos in there?

I found it for IE, but the movie was opened with Firefox and it was not in the same directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\MAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

I thought they shared this folder, but the movie was not in there.

try looking around inside the FIREFOX DIRECTORY YOU BUTTFUNGUS

WOW I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT EVER EVER EVER EVER. OH WAIT, YES I DID AND IT'S NOT THERE!

The total size of that directory is only 16 megs, none of which is temp internet files.

Here's what I was able to come up with when I looked on my machine:

C:\WINNT\Profiles\<me>\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\<random cache name>\Cache

Change it around for XP, and you'll be able to find it:

C:\Documents and Settings\<me>\Applcation Data\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\<random cache name>\Cache

Remember to turn on the viewing of hidding and system files or else you won't see the application data folder.

hmm, thanks but I got to here:
C:\Documents and Settings\MAME\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\cjrkd02n.slt\Cache

and the only things that are in that folder are just 10 or so unrecognizable files, ranging from 0kb to 3megs. I checked all the other folders in the Pheonix directory and there's nothing. WHERE ARE MY VIDEOS DOWNLOADING TO????!?!?!?!?!?!

1. you set mozilla/firefox cache locations in the options/preferences. If you can't find it in the prefs dialog, look at but DO NOT MODIFY the values in "about:config" (type that in the URL bar).
2. firefox and moz don't do caching in the same way as IE - I don't think you can pull out individual files easily
3. to actually play the video, firefox would have saved it to "%temp%". Start->Run "%temp%". If it's not there, it's gone.

Some files if opened directly will be visibile via the plug-in, however, when the plug-in is closed, it cleans up after itself like a good appliation.

about:config makes firefox crash every time. It thinks and then just dies.

I didn't see a cache location in the preferences.

🙁 is there anything else I can do?
