oops - HDD problem - NM:> Looking for some PC2100 (or something like that)

I've had a mobo failure on one of my older boxes (P3 1.26) and I don't want to put any more money into repairing it.

I have this other old box which is perfectly serviceable except that it needs more memory.
It takes PC2100 & the one stick that is in there now says "64x64".
This will be a basic web surfing box, nothing exciting.

If anyone has some of this old memory laying around and you want to donate - I'd be happy to put it into use.

The box will run Rosetta for the team of course.

It has a HD issue, clicks then no activity for awhile - sometimes comes back & sometimes needs a cold boot, sometimes resulting in a lovely registry restore to some crap that nobody likes... Anyway it has a 40GB drive that appears to be on its way out.

The mobo is an A7A266 & it has an Athlon 950. Wonder if it will run a faster cpu?
Guess I'll go look that up.

That old school ram went out in the trash long ago. All I have is some spare DDR2.

I dunno what world you are living in, but that's not my experience.
I've got 3 GB DDR2 running in one P4 3.8ghz box but all my other boxes run on DDR.
(OK it's all a lot faster than PC2100 - that stuff is old for sure)
I haven't really found any great improvement of DDR2 over DDR anyway - there's just no experiential difference (to me, YMMV).
