Lots of people don't realize just how much air a turbo moves. I've seen many people use cheesy cone filters on turbo cars just to have them crumple like a soda can, many times bad enough to let the turbo suck in bits of the filter and wire mesh. Of course the turbo ends up seizing up and the turbo looks like it sucked in a rats nest.
