OOOWWWWW!!!! I just pulled a muscle in my neck!@#$

While I was getting up this morning I twisted my head wrong somehow and heard a pop, next thing I know pain is shooting all over and I can only move it (head) in certain directions with out pain. This happened to me when I was younger, I think the doctor called it Rye Neck... or something like that. Anyway, what can I do to dull the pain?! I've been pop'ing alive all morning but I still have to walk around like a gimp with my head tilted to one side to avoid all the pain. Or should I just go to the hospital and have them give me a muscle relaxer and a pain killer?

What sort of an angle are we talking about here? If you try do you have regular range of motion even though it hurts?

I'm not entirely sure why I'm asking this since I have no medical training, but it seems reasonable.

well like now, when i'm typing and have both arms extended, i have to rest my head to the left, any sort of movement and the pain is horrid... just sitting down i can keep my head verticle and move it around to the left and slightly to the right... up and down motion is pretty limited too, and anything that requires twisting to the far right is definatly a no no

happened to me when i was younger (like 5) when i was putting on a shirt. go to the chiropractor. they fix you.

I would just hit up the emergency room like I did the last time... that is sort of a last ditch effort, i don't think i can drive and my roomie isn't done with class until 3 🙁

edit: yea i'm probably going to be doing this.

I actually used a heating pad and tylenol last time. if you exercise it as much as possible to the point where it doesn't make you scream, it should also help. (so i've been told) doesn't take that long.. a week before it's fairly normal to the point where you can easily be ok.. and another week before it's compeltely gone. (depends on how bad it's pulled / hurt.
