Ooooopps, looks like health care reform wont actually save any money

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100423/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_law_costs

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law will increase the nation's health care tab instead of bringing costs down, government economic forecasters concluded Thursday in a sobering assessment of the sweeping legislation.

Is anyone really surprised? yet another epic facepalm for the government.

I don't recall anyone saying it was going to save any money.

I do recall that it will make many not paying anything will have to pay and those that have been paying having to pay more.

How about Whitehouse.gov

"It will provide more security and stability to those who have health insurance. It will provide insurance to those who don’t. And it will lower the cost of health care for our families, our businesses, and our government"
-PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

Source might be a little biased though ;)

BTW the more people learn about this bill the more likely it is that the bill gets thrown overboard completely.

Awwww thanks

AFFORDABLE, ACCESSIBLE HEALTH COVERAGE FOR ALL != Save Money

You seriously didn't hear the Democrats screaming "THE CBO SAYS IT WILL SAVE MONEY OVER THE NEXT DECADE!" Must have heard that line at least 7 times on C-SPAN the day of the vote.

Quite simply IMHO this healthcare reform was just a reflex piece of legislation. We'll be back at it by necessity in a few years, and hopefully the government will have wizened up and take a little more time to actually make something good.

It was dramatically changed before it was passed. We all know this.

It wasn't changed enough to change Obama's mind about signing it. And unless I mistaken, didn't a lot of the changes come from the Obama admin?

Wait... wait... that can't be right! Surely there's a way to blame Bush for the additional trillions we're going to be spending on a terrible government run health care scheme.

Well I'm shocked I tell you - shocked!

Eh, nothing a VAT on top of the existing income tax won't cover. Factor in the multitude of fees and tax increases built into the bill and it's going to be smooth sailing.

We've been saying it all along, the goal of this legislation was not increasing the availability of health care or reducing costs. It's income redistribution.

This is in the American Clean Energy and Security Act passed by the House. From this article.

For example, buried on pages 1014-1016 of the bill is the "Monthly Energy Refund." According to this trick, for those with a gross income that "does not exceed 150 percent of the poverty line ... a direct deposit" of an undisclosed amount of money will be sent "into the eligible household's designated bank account[.]"

Remove the incentive to work. The fundamental transformation marches on.

Anyone who didn't realize that this steaming pile of dung healthcare bill was going to cost us trillions more than the original estimates is either terminally stupid or just willfully ignorant of reality.

The ultimate costs will be at least double or triple what is forecast, and years from now it's going to look like the same gaping sinkhole in the budget that other socialist programs look like today.
