Oooh, brand new Canon 300D for $699

Very tempting. I knew these would drop in price after the 20D came out.

Do I really need that extra 2 mega-pixels???

Update: It will be mine next Wednesday!!! I can't wait!!!

Where are you getting it at that price?

I would do it, because your current camera most likely doesn't have nearly the internals and functionality of the 300D. Its not a question of MP, when comparing P&S and DSLR.

You are correct. My current camera is a Canon S300 2MP.

Here's the gravy. I already have 2 Canon EF lenses for my film camera, the 70-200mm F4 L lens and a Canon 28-135mm IS lens (probably not the best for a digital SLR but not bad I'm sure).

BH Photo is the place.

Edit-Love your sig BTW. Very funny.

I picked up a Canon EF 28-300 lens at an estate sale this past summer, so I've been watching the prices as well. 🙂

I would say that if you are looking for a more functional camera, go for it. The price may come down a little more, but not too much. They will discontinue it soon, I would guess, and you won't be able to find sales on them, based on Canon incentives.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go for it.

Nice score on the 28-300 lens. That's a big sucker isn't it?

Yeah, its huge, but I only have to carry 1 lens. I may pick up another 70mm lens, though, for still shots. I don't know.

yes buy it and ill sell you a nice bag to carry it in, that will fit the camer and 2-4 lenses and a bunch of other stuff

Well, I bought it. It will be mine by next Wednesday. No sales tax and I only had to pay $15 for shipping.

Thanks B&H!!! I  you!

Yeah, that is another $62 I saved rather than buy it retail here.

Why? So I could spend money on Pentax lenses when I already have over $1,000 worth of Canon glass that will work on the 300D? That makes no sense.

You're absolutely right. I thought you didn't own Canon glass.

That's the problem with DSLRs. One gets stuck very easily to a brand b/c of the glass.

Or any SLR camera for that matter. I'm sure that this is by design though.

Still, I can't say that I've been disappointed by Canon lenses or cameras. 😀
