I've heard someone actually cut to size so that the RAM (DDR2 if i remember correctly) will fit in the RAM slot (DDR).

No .. no it was DDR3 ... and I didn't just cut it like a fool; I carefully trimmed it with a dremel and delicately finished the process with one of my wife's fingernail files.

Piece of junk still wouldn't fit.

That, sadly, is when the hammer came out.

This thread is great.

Keep'em coming guys. I really needed this after a rough day. Ahahahaha.......

The thermal paste takes the cake. But then again, the lines on the 7800 is where you cut to fit ? ROFL........

Hmm, wonder if a 990X will fit in my socket 775 ?

Look, we all get it, ha ha let's make generic broadsweeping derogatory remarks about an entire community... meme complete...but seriously there is really no need to go "there" in this thread. :\
Since when did AMDZone represent an entire community? o_O

You must really have contempt for AMD fans if you think they are all like the clowns on AMDZone.

Gamers' Optimization... awesome. The truth in advertising version? "We spend 10 minutes clicking 'next' for $50."

I took the rear bracket off of a PCI Firewire card once because I wanted some internal Firewire ports. I had no problem installing it in the slot with the ports facing in, although the computer did refuse to boot afterwards, and there was a slight burning smell.

Lesson learned: Don't buy FIC motherboards, they're garbage. Also, don't install PCI cards in back to front.

I actually still have the card. I haven't tried using it since... the incident.

Look at it. Doesn't that look like you can install it in either direction? It certainly did to me when I was 14.

I remember when the P2 233mhz came out with Slot 1. I built a PC for a friend for some games to play, he called me up and wanted to know why no game was on the cartridge, or none of his Nintendo games fit.

pretty sure it was a user on AT who posted a story about how he sold a mobo/CPU to someone he knew who then called him claiming it didn't work. When he went over to look at it he discovered that his friend had cut about 4 inches off the bottom of the mobo because it " didn't fit in his case"
