ok, my 40GB seagate 5400RPM drive is getting a bit old now, and i think its time for a change. I definitely need over 100GB of space, and was thinking of getting a seagate 7200.7 120GB Drive. Would it be worth investing in a smaller, say 20 - 40GB drive, to keep windows and programs on? which hard drive do you reccomend (Cant justify the spend on a Raptor though) also, what setup should i use for the drives in terms of master and slave cofiguration?
I only have two ide on my motherboard, and 1 DVD drive

I personally don't think it would be worth it to invest in a smaller drive to keep windows on. I think any of the major brands will provide a nice drive for you. I personally like Western Digital HDD's. I think the most important thing is to get a 7200RPM 8Mb Cache harddrive as you will see a noticable improvement in performance from the old drive you have now. You should go to anandtech's storage section and look at the harddrive review "Raptor Vs The World" and look at the three IDE drives there because they all test very well. I think another important thing would be to try and find a harddrive with atleast a 3 year warranty because a lot of drives nowadays only have 1 year warranties. I hope this helps.

I'd stick with your plan on getting a Seagate 7200.7 120 gig drive, I have 2 of those drives, and they are bar none my favorites. (out of all IDE drive I've tried)
