Oog Vs Mp3?

Any thoughts?

Ripping all my music tonight do not have enough room for .flac so....

ogg (not oog) is better sounding for the quality than mp3. There are downsides though... many mp3 players won't play ogg (but the good ones do...cough iriver cough) and ogg doesnt have as many available programs for ripping editing etc. But if you use EAC w/ a decent ogg encoder you can't go wrong. Since I have an iriver and use a media player that supports ogg I'd choose ogg.

Mp3 is an older format and even at 320kb/s is missing a bit off the high & low end. Pretty much any other format will sound better at a given bitrate. Out of what's available, ogg is the most widely supported among software and portable players. It does take a bit more grunt to decode though and will eat up more battery power when played on a portable.

mp3 is universal, and with -alt preset extreme or insane using lame its pretty damn good. most won't have equipment good enough to hear a difference. really expensive equiment....
