onscreen arrow jumps by itself (using Logitech optical mouse)

I'm using a special edition silver/black 2x optical mouse made by logitech. I got it along with my corded logitech elite keyboard that I got a few months ago when Staples had that elite keyboard blowout.

Sometimes, when i'm moving my mouse arrow around the center of the screen (whether playing a game, or just surfing the net), the arrow will jump to a corner of the screen. Of course, I didn't move my mouse arrow to the corner of the screen. It did it by itself. It's kind of annoying.

I am using a regular mousepad. The mouse arrow jumps to a corner regardless of what surface I use my mouse on.

Does anyone have the same problem? Or is this a defect of the mouse and I should RMA it?

I've read people having somewhat the same problem but are satisfied with the KEYBOARD

Mine did that on my desk with its weird wood pattern. I moved the mouse to a very dark and solid mousepad and havn't had a problem since. At my work, I have an odd Dell mousepad with an odd reflective pattern printed over it. Sometimes I think this pattern throws it off and I have to pick it up and place it back down elsewhere (logitech wireless at home, microsoft at work -- both optical).
