Only one admin in WinXP?

I got the beta for Windows XP. I originally had it set up like I always have set it up.. leave the administrator account the way it is, set up myself as another administrator, and then a power user if need be.

Well, when I went to do that in XP it only made me a power user. When I went back and changed it so I had administrative rights, suddenly the administrator account was gone.

I suppose it's not TOO big a deal, but I'm sure other accounts wouldn't mind doing things like burning CDs every once in a while or installing simple software they may need.

Odd...What version XP is it? Maybe they'll do that in personal/professional, and only allow multiple admins in server/adv.server? But i'm just talking out my a** so i could be completely wrong.

Actually pretty much every user in Home in considered an Admin....

I can't see them only allowing a single Admin in pro....maybe it's just in the beta...

As far as I know there are no file level security settings for WinXP Home Ed. This doesn't mean that you can't lock some people out of some of the Control Panels and such. From this I would have to assume that there must be some access-level permissions, thus there must be different security levels. So everyone cannot be an admin.

I could imagine there being only one "Administrator" account in the Home Edition though... I think it would make the whole multi-user thing easier to stomach for a lot of people who are new to multi-user OS. This way, it would be run very similar to AOL, where each household has an "admin" account where they can set up things like parental permissions.

I said "pretty much" every user is an Admin. There are two user classes in XP Home, "Owners" which is the default, and is the equiviliant of Admin, and "Restricted Users". I'm not sure exactly how restricive restricted users are, but there is no "Power User" type account, so I assume that most people are going to want to be Owners.
