Sooo I guess this week is AIDS prevention week....flip to BET and see The Game's new video one of the last lines he spits was about having a different girl seven days a week. Immediately after the video they shoot to the host and some AIDS prevention specialist talking about AIDS and how to prevent it. It doesn't help either that the show has an audience full of like 14-15 year olds. You would figure for AIDS week, they would feature less sexually explicit videos, course Money In The Bank with half naked hookers in a hotel room is the next video that came up. Note this is not a debate between abstinence

I know but I still think it's sad.

BET founder Robert Johnson once said that he made the station for entertainment, with no implied guarantees on any social responsibility.

BET represents us *very* poorly on the whole. :thumbsdown:

im still mad that they refused to play little brothers 'lovin it' because it poked fun at rap stereotypes (ice, gangsta-lifestyle, etc.) and said the video was "too intelligent for bet viewers". and also banning de la's 'shopping bags'.

yeah they have been doing that for some time now.

BET is a little hypocritical to me at least. In one sense you see all these movies and shows about ex gang members and the paths they have taken and what their lives have led too, then they have a big campaign going on against AIDS and protected sex and then later on that evening you see about 20 videos promoting gangsta lifestyle and promiscuous sex.

Meh, I don't watch TV period. THere's no redeeming value at all. Except for Adult Swim and Colbert of course.

WTF is BET anyway? Up here, BET means Bethel, Alaska... a podunk bush village.

BET = Black Entertainment Television...

Its in the same branding family as MTV, MTV2, VH1. Ie crappy programming is more important that actually showing music videos. Although I like alot of VH1's programming save for the celebreality crap.
