This story is so weird, it could only have happened in Philly. The guy grew up in Ridley Park, where I did. He's a cousin of the Nilons. Through 5th grade, I went to Catholic school with Mike Nilon. As the article states, they used to have the concession gig at Vet Park. Further back in the day, at Connie Mack Stadium (prior even to the Vet) they had THE WORST food and beer you could imagine . . . boiled hot dogs on a 2 cent roll, with bland yellow mustard applied by the roaming hawker with a wooden stick as the only condiment, and shit beer that they pre-poured into plasic cups the night before games and then froze overnight and thawed as they hawked it in the stands. I kid you not! This was BEFORE there were even concession stands.

Ahhh, Connie Mack Stadium. It was in North Philly, the only parking was on the surrounding streets and you had to throw the local black kids some change to "guard" your car. No violence back then, it was all "in good fun" so to speak. Good Times!!
