Only in india!

Out of curiosity, why do they not use traffic lights or, for that matter, traffic controls of any kind (other than the vague idea that you're suppose to drive on the left side of the road there)?
 
When I was in India for two months back in 2000, I drove around on a moped or motorcycle to get around my hometown.

They ARE the best drivers in the known universe. There is not one stoplight or stop-sign in the whole city my family is from. And yes, it is like the video all the time.

I attest their leet driving skills to the fact that they actually think of others on the road (everyone, at the same time).

One day I'll post the vids I took of us driving on the "highway" (aka: barely a 2 lane dirt road). Playing chicken is actually commonplace there... for scientific reasons.
 
I almost died twice when the rickshaw I was driving in almost ran over a cow....and then later on a jaywalker..
