Georgia legislators press to require more women's toilets

"Put this one in the "there-oughta-be-a-law" category. A bill introduced in the Georgia House Wednesday would require twice as many toilets in women's restrooms as in men's rooms."

Actually I put this in the "only in Georgia" category or the "If you know what's good for you when you get home" category.

Supposedly this passed today? Yesterday? I couldn't find any news on it to link but I heard it passed something(house? senate?) on the radio.

Another example of too many Laws. Instead of fixing the problem they do useless crap like this:

2-23-2004 Measure attempts to curbs the powers of some overzealous rangers.

House lawmakers overwhelmingly passed HB 1185 today by a vote of 162-2. The bill requires Department of Natural Resource Officers and other officials who patrol Georgia's lakes and rivers to get permission of the owner or operator, or have reasonable cause a regulation has been broken, before they board and inspect boats.

Currently, Department of Natural Resources Officers, and other law enforcement officials are allowed to stop smaller boats and vessels that are operating on Georgia waters for inspection without probable cause and the measure attempts to curbs the powers of some overzealous rangers.

?I have heard from people all over the state who enjoy our lakes and rivers and are responsible boat operators but are being harassed by some overzealous rangers,? said Rep. Shaw, the sponsor of HB 1185. ?This bill will help curb those abuses and still allow officers to board commercial boats and saltwater boats without probable cause, which is good for law enforcement.?

What's wrong with that?

Instead of fixing problem of "overzealous Rangers" they put another Law on the books.

Sounds like the law was needed regardless. Fixing overzealous Rangers might be a different issue. I hate having too numerous laws myself, but any that put limits on state authority I'm all for.

It seems like a resonable standard for new construction.

I wounder if the troughs that are in some bathrooms would require 2 female toilets or like 1 for every foot?

So at sporting events where men outnumber women 5 to 1, there will only be a 30 minute wait to use the Jane instead of a 45 minute wait, while there is still no wait for the men's rooms?

Instead of adding more toilets, why not take out the mirrors and sofas. I would think that would speed up the process by a good 200%, why not urinating troughs in the women's room. Let's face it men are physically superior when it comes to urination speeds, especially in public restrooms...Not to mention we don't primp or socialize in there.

Have you been to any events where the woman are lined up well outside the bathrooms and they are going as fast as they can? It's not pretty. See how fast you can go if you had no zipper.

That argument is BS. Let me explain why.

Women stand OUTSIDE the bathroom when forming a line whereas men line up inside. So while the line may look longer for women it's just because they all stand outside.

How come my wife and I can both go to the restroom at the same time and I have enough time to do my business as well as wait through the concession stand line before she even gets in the bathroom? Men can urinate and wash their hands in a minute and be in and out

Why would anyone wear anything without a zipper to a sporting event???

Just stating the facts, forgot some people on here wore shiny metal hats and made generalized assumptions
