I work at a Pizza Hut in Flagstaff Arizona and just the other night there was this Homeless guy that came in. The waitress let the guy come inside because it was beginning to snow and gave him some chicken wings that were sitting in the warmer. The hung out for awhile, and then one of the waitress' other customers informed her that the guy was stealing her tips from the table. She went back and told the manager, but of course the guy had left before they returned.
Talk about ungrateful huh? I guess that's the price one pays for being simpathetic and nice to someone in need.

Hmmm... here's an idea. Give him some food and then pay for a cab ride to the nearest shelter.

Personally I wouldn't have let him in I'm still pissed when somer homeless guys broke into my truck and stole my backpack containing $200.00 worth of books.

I had to do some research on the homeless once for a course I was taking. Statistically, 2/3 of the homeless suffer from mental disorders. 2/5 of the homeless suffer from "severe" mental disorders. And it doesn't help that 60% of them readily admit to drug or alchohol dependency.

A good chunk of them are Vets or good folks who were once very productive people. But in their curent state, they really *are* desperate, dangerous and unpredictable. I keep clear.

Giving them food is about the best thing you can do though (money just gets converted to drugs and alchohol). What you did for the guy was a nice gesture -- too bad it didn't work out.

Get used to it!

I was in Champaign/Urbana Illinois, a college town. I had $10 on me and was waiting for a load to get me home in a McDonald's parking lot. I was approached by a tall young black guy that said he and his wife were trying to get back to college and their car broke down. Could I spare a few bucks. At first I said no.

I went in to get something to eat and he was still outside when I went out the door. I gave him all the cash I had on me.

While eating my food I see him walking down the sidewalk with a sixpack and a full pack of smokes bulging his front pocket!

There are a bunch of like happenings I could relate and all with the same outcome. I rarely give to individuals anymore. I tell them "GET A JOB!":|

That sucks man....I have an ex-girlfriend in Flagstaff, and will forever hate that place (til she leaves the town when she's finished with college )

Anyway, I know what you mean about the thankless homeless people, I usually just give them food, and leave, NO MONEY!!!!
