Only Half of Memory Shows Up?

Sorry if this is a basic question, but I haven't been able to find the answer. I have a PC with 512MB of PC1066 RDRAM installed. However, when I go into the "My Computer Information--General" area of XP, it lists the memory capacity as 256MB. Then, when I go into the Task Manager, it shows Physical Memory of 523680 total, around 240000 available and around 287000 system cache.

Can anyone enlighten me on whether something is amiss here? Thanks.

Are you sure it's not virtual memory and not physical memory? If not then check what your BIOS says hit "del" or some f key prolly f10 or something around that. a little more info on your system might help too

I took the Sandra suggestion, and it confirmed that I've got 512 installed. It's interesting, as it lists 4 memory sockets, and shows only one containing a 256MB stick. However, in a different place it indicates that Sockets 0 and 1 are occupied. I wonder if Windows can't see Socket 0?

FYI, it's a P4 2.8 on an ASUS P4T533-C
