Only decent deal at CC closeout: 30% off gaming acc. (YMMV)

My local Circuit City was mostly devoid of anything approaching a good deal, but the 30% off video game accessories worked on the 1600 MS Live points card ($20 worth), 2000 Wii Points ($20 worth) and Wii Classic Controller (ord. $20) for 30% off or $14 each. Not bad since I was wanting a few new XBL games.

I know there have been better deals in the past on the XBL points, but controllers are notoriously hard to find discounted, and I've never seen the Wii points discounted before.

Edit: YMMV. Others are reporting only 10% off on said items. My store was 10% on everything except Accessories for most items (video game accessories, iPod accessories, digital camera accessories except for memory cards, etc.).

Also: this was in the Hurst, Texas location, so if you are elsewhere in the DFW area then maybe your CC has a chance of having the same deal?

the points card might be the only thing worth it. gotta get a bunch though. 1600 cards are only 17.95 on amazon. its a 2 dollar savings for me after tax if I can fidn it at CC.

This is YMMV.

At my local CC, wii poitns were only 10% off, but at the same time, that's still a mediocre deal since there's tax on it, whereas purchasing off amazon is tax free for CA.

thanks for the heads up tho!

this is highly YMMV dependng on where you are and the liquidation company that bought your local CC. My local stores are all the 10% BS.

Same here. My local CC has a big ol' banner on the outside, advertising up to 30% off going out of business sale. Go inside, and all I saw was 10% off everything but cd's and dvd's, which were 20% off (which isn't much of a deal, imho, since their "normal" price isn't too good to start with).

Darned if I found anything 30% off.

Agreed. I'm almost positive my cc will only have 10% off, but potentially getting the wii points card for 14 bucks is too good to pass up. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Looks like even after it went under, the prices are just the same. What a lame company. The day you get a deal there is the day when pigs fly. I usually got their weekly ad, and never found anything on sale below retail price, unless it was really old tech that needed a good sucker to overpay for what was already obsolete.

Checked my cc (Richmond, VA) today, hoping for the 30% off deal for the wii points cards. Unfortunately, it isn't 30% off, or even 10% off, its full price. This applies to the xbox cards as well. I was disappointed and moderately pissed, but such is life:|

I just got back, and it was the same for me.

Umm...the store is not run by Circuit City anymore. It has nothing to do with Circuit City. It is all handled by a liquidation company.

True enough, but...I share his frustration. Therefore, I will now re-name Circuit City "Poop E Pants" in protest.

Nothing hot on the first day. Same as of yesterday. They advertise here in So Cal. up to 30% off. However the few things I saw 30% off were cables and accessories. Most of you already know what kind of mark-up they have on cables.

Monoprice has this $6.17 cable to choose from, whereas CC prolly wants about $79.99 or more like our friends at WorstBuy.
I did not however see the massive mark-ups like those that were evident at the closing of Wickes and a few others.

Also strange was the CC ad I got in my local paper this Sunday. My store had a sign at the front door last week that stated they would not honor ad prices.
Maybe just keep going back. Good luck.

Not that strange. The ads are generally planned and printed a bit in advance. These would have gone out before the company decided it had to shut down.
