Only ~7-10x DAE on my plextor?

I have a Plextor 16/10/40 IDE on WinXP.....I recently started to put some of my CD's onto an mp3 partition I have, but I can only rip to wave from EAC at about 7x. I checked around and installed ForceASPI 1.7, and ran aspicheck, and everything seemed to be okay, but there was no speed increase. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

Are you using "Secure" mode under Drive Options in EAC? I believe that will cause your extraction to go slower, albeit more accurately. If you want to see the fastest you can go, try "Burst" mode.
